Spring Festivals

The Lunar New Year is the most important celebration of the year in many Asian countries. This year, the Lunar New Year falls on the same day as Valentine’s Day. Daddy and Mommy are not very big on Valentine's celebrations, as they usually wait for the hoopla to subside and celebrate their wedding anniversary on Feb 19 instead. And since my arrival, romance has taken a backseat to fussing over me.

Still, it is nice to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the festivities. As you can see, red features prominently in the welcoming of the Lunar New Year. Roses were incorporated in some of the showpieces, somewhat of a faux pax, but an acceptable tribute to the double festival. Mommy was not terribly impressed with the mall decorations though, so Daddy has suggested we head to Bangkok's Chinatown - Yaowarat - next. Stay tuned... in the meantime, go bake some fortune cookies.
