Are those Chinese words part of the protest. It was very brave of your husband to go out during the protest.
Yes, Ann, those Chinese banners were part of the protest, and seemed most prevalent in the area where we left Lumpini Park and entered the blockade zone. Most of the red shirts were supposed to be darker-skinned Thai-Burmese (working class), as opposed to the fair-skinned Thai-Chinese (merchant class). That is why we were taken aback, as the Chinese banners were among the first we encountered. I would not rule them out as props intended for the diplomats who visited and the international media.
