Rice

Rice is the staple food for more than half the population of the world, contributing to more than 20% of all the calories consumed by human beings.
Rice is serious business: its prices and distribution are regulated in many countries, with government policies critical to the well-being of farmers, traders and consumers.
Thailand has a strong tradition of rice production. It has the fifth largest area of land under rice cultivation in the world and is the world's largest exporter of rice.
Jasmine rice, also know as Thai Hom Mali, is indigenous to Thailand and well known - and loved - for its fragrance and flavour.
Our maid, Noi gave us a bag of newly milled Jasmine rice from her family plot in Isaan, when she returned from her New Year break.

Is it yummy? Tell you later...

Ummm, what do you think?

Jasime rice is all I buy Serline. Love seeing/learning about all that rice; and here I was impressed by the 20 # bag I saw at Costco over the weekend! ;)

Nice photos and tour into the production of rice. Paddy plantation is one of the major source of economy. Most Asians countries, my country too (Malaysia) almost can't live without rice. We have rice almost everyday.

LOVE the second photo! My husband and adore rice. We consume the tasty morsels each day as part of our meal. Indeed, there are many varieties of these tiny morsels ... one of our favorites is Jasmine. Not only does it boast a more subtle and fruity flavor but its aroma is simply divine! It pairs well with just about everything! :)))
