Walk-in Movie Theatre

Every now and then, we would come across a movie screening in the streets. More often than not, a local movie of indeterminate age would play to a small audience seated on plastic and wooden stools and on the ground.
The other night, walking home from Carrefour, we walked right into a Walk-in Movie Theatre that was set up in an alley near our condo, next to a secluded Chinese temple that was home to many soi dogs. The projectionist was as interested in my digital camera, as I was fascinated with his analogue movie projector.
Movie of the night was Hollywood blockbuster, "Twilight: Eclipse", dubbed in Thai with English subtitles. But the only audience we could see were the temple dogs and a passing motorcyclist. For some reason, Bella's desperate cries for Edward did not sound very convincing in Thai ;-P

I had to LOL at picturing how Bella crying out for help in Thai! =) No matter how distressed, how angry, how desperate, it probably came out in a rather mellow, singsong way. :)

what a shame there was no audience to hear her.
great shot of the old projector, though!

Yes, it is too bad there was no one to hear her! What a different "movie theater"!! Great post for the day and fun to see that old projector! Hope your week is going well, Serline!

That's so neat. I think it would be fun to sit outside and watch a movie.

I often watch movies that are in sub-titles. My thought too is, how much I miss of the actual show by my stern concentration in reading rather than taking in the entire picture. However, I have come across some very heartfelt international films that have so been worth it!

These images are priceless ... how very interesting you were in just the right place at the right time to exchange your wisdom on "machines of film" with each other!

That is so funny. I can just picture what you have described.

Sometimes they have free movies outdoors here. I really enjoy them.

What a story! Love the details you've captured of the projector.
