DIY Dinner

Both Daddy and Uncle Chiet's birthdays took place last week; they decided to hold a joint celebration on Saturday. The main dish would be Popiah, a Hokkien/Teochew-style fresh spring roll they both miss very much.
Not only did Mom find a stall in Klongtoey Market that sells popiah skin, it is made fresh onsite.
Some white wine before the meal; Daddy, may I have some too?
I had to pass on the appetizers. Those Isan sausages were too spicy for me!
Spread some sweet soy sauce on the skin, and line with fresh lettuce...
... then add your own preferred stuffing, including turnip/carrot mash, egg, shrimp, tofu, bean sprout and Chinese sausage.
While Daddy regaled everyone with his stories, Mommy rolled a popiah for him with extra chili, just the way he likes them ;-P
When Mom finally sat down to eat, Janelle took over her duties as event photographer.
Uncle Bill baked a delicious cake for the boys... Happy Birthday, Daddy and Uncle Chiet!

This looks so yummy and I feel very curious - when I travel, one of my greatest pleasures is the new food I can taste. I LOVE food and this looks mouth watering! :-)

Oh - and since I´m stalking you everyday anyway, I thought it would make sense that I become your newest follower. Makes the stalking easier, haha! :-D
